Accreditation Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is scheduled for reaffirmation of accreditation in 2007 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Since the last time the University received reaffirmation in 1997, the review process has been revised considerably. Under the new process, each institution is asked to propose a self-study that is focused on issues germane to its particular mission, stage of development, and institutional context. There is considerable leeway in selecting topics, although there must be an emphasis on educational effectiveness and demonstration of student learning.
Our proposal, which guides the entire review process, was submitted in May of 2004, with an institutional Capacityand Preparatory Review scheduled for October 4-6, 2006, and an Educational Effectiveness Review planned for October 3-5, 2007. Final Commission action on the University's application for the reaffirmation of accreditation will be taken in the spring of 2008.
